I want to make this post simple to those that ask what and why should someone have a blog? We have all heard of blogging before at least once in our lives but not everyone really knows what it about. The word blog is an abbreviated version of the term web log. It a site that shows posts in a reverse chronological order, which gives you an account of information on a certain subject, very similar to a diary. There are millions of blogs on the Internet for pretty much any subject you can think of. Most of them focus on one niche but there are numerous blogs that cover multiple subjects.
Most blogs are laid out in generally the same way when it comes to displaying content. There is a main content area that will display all of the posts that you write and then one or two sidebars with various widgets and information. However, if you’re serious about blogging then you’ll want to make your site stand out by having your own unique logo and graphics to set yourself apart from everyone else.
When blogging, you need to be interesting and entertaining to keep your readers coming back and wanting more. Writing about something that you’re passionate about is the key to always having something to talk about. Also, your writing really needs to reflect your personality so that people feel more of a connection with you and what you say. Keeping your blog focused on a certain niche is preferable over having many subjects. A lot of bloggers will start an entirely new blog if they decide to write about something different.
One of the great things about blogs is the discussion that can come from the articles written. It’s such a great way to communicate with people and get so many various opinions on a subject. Pretty much every blog will have a comments section after each post for people to talk about what they have just read. This makes it very simple for anyone to jump in and join the conversation which really gives each blog it’s own sense of community.
Blogging is something that basically anyone can do as long as you have an opinion about something. There will always be someone who wants to hear what you have to say. Having a blog could also earn you some extra money by monetizing it. It could even potentially be your sole source of income depending on how popular your blog is. Whatever your motivation may be, blogging can be a very rewarding experience.
