Remember those old Superman movies and Lone Ranger television shows and how these “heroes” would be caught up in one chaotic situation after another and somehow, some way, they would manage to pull it off with that “Surprise and Delight” and to the viewing audience amazement, to save the day again.
I know that’s all Hollywood and studio creation however from my time and experiences of being around strong and true leaders, I can state that there is some truth to it when it comes to “pulling the rabbit out of the hat”, like a few of the leaders I am associated with are known to say.

In my reading and studying different acts of leadership, I am back to discussing the remainder of the simple concepts of leadership by Dave Kerpen, and I like the points he is making when it comes to this concept of Surprise and Delight with customers.
**Most people like surprises in their day-to-day lives. Like-able leaders under promise and over-deliver, assuring that customers and staff are surprised in a positive way. There are a plethora of ways to surprise without spending extra money – a smile, We all like to be delighted — surprise and delight create incredible word-of-mouth marketing opportunities. And there is nothing more word-of-mouth-worthy than surprise and delight — random acts of brand kindness toward your consumers.

I know the Superman and Lone Ranger act may only show up a few times in your business and you may not have to go that far to “save the world, however, there still are things that can come up on a daily basis that you should have your “Surprise and Delight” offering ready to go.
