Are You Confident and Excited about Your Brand?

What Does Your Brand Say about You?

Have you ever thought about Your Brand and what it means? According to Wikipedia, the term Brand is the “name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller’s product distinct from those of other sellers. A modern example of a brand is Coca Cola which belongs to the Coca-Cola Company.

A brand is often the most valuable asset of a Corporation. Brand owners manage their brands carefully to create shareholder value, and brand valuation is an important management technique that ascribes a money value to a brand, and allows marketing investment to be managed (e.g.: prioritized across a portfolio of brands) to maximize shareholder value.

In a marketer’s conference a few days ago, Ray Higdon, a top leader in the industry and one that I refer to as my virtual business mentor, gave all of us a piece of wisdom when it comes to “Your Brand” and what it means. In Ray’s words, “Your Brand is not a logo, it is a set of conditions that you have a congruency with in your daily life. Your brand is not to impress, it is to Identify!”

You can be yourself and it feels great. When it comes to putting a message out via video, blogging, articles, etc… ask yourself two questions. Is what you about to put out to the marketplace, is it congruent with your personal message and is it in line with what you do? A person, company or organization with a good brand operates on a high level and understand that a good brand raises the level of everything.

Here is a simple exercise on how to determine your brand characteristics and getting your brand developed.

Simply write down every word that you want people to use to describe you. Write down the terms that you want to project to others. Examples of this” Leader, optimistic, enthusiastic, friendly, passionate, humble, etc… you get it right. If for some very odd reason, you cannot come up with anything, then focus on what you want to become and start from there.

With their brand in place, most leaders know a secret that keeps them on top of their game and that is they don’t focus on their brand, they focus on value! At the end of the day, giving value is what will keep your brand at a high level. Thanks Ray for the value you share on a daily basis and let us all continue developing leaders one person at a time.
