Now as I look at this photo not only for the attire but also for the image of myself looking in the mirror and realizing that even though I may be in between mountains, I thank GOD that when I look good… I feel good!

I’m seeing more and more suit and ties in the marketplace and to hear a few youngsters say they need to get a better wardrobe to make a better first impression, then I say, let’s add you to the team. Being comfortable in a suit used to be standard operating procedure just like wearing a pair of jeans on a casual work or play day.

I am noticing a trend of what I call the suit game making a comeback. I see many of my frat bros notably Stephen Brooks with the hats (brims) and Leonidas Theking wearing the suits (uniform) on a daily basis, not only for the look but for the service these guys are providing and the standard being set, that it’s always cool to look good while taking care of business. Also keeping in mind that it’s not the suit that makes the man but the man that makes the suit!

No matter what uniform you work in or feel comfortable dressing in, if it brings food on your table and there’s integrity in the job you do, then I salute you. For those of you that like to dress in the suit and tie, you have the table set for that first impression, now go to work.

I recently attended the Full Throttle Experience 2014 hosted by Delatorro McNeal II and what an amazing conference it turned out to be. So much powerful life changing content and activities that had all in attendance excited and ready to take on their dreams and goals in life. I have a question for you when it comes to living life full throttle with nothing holding you back.

Now, let me ask you, “Have you ever seen a casket at a business conference?” Maybe you have or maybe you have not and Yes, this is a pretty radical idea and even stranger to see in person. However, we did have a casket at this conference and it was not there to bury someone, it was there to bury everyone’s excuses, distractions, fears and negative self talk. We all, at one time or another, have these issues come up in our daily lives and we must stand courageous in our efforts to halt these internal challenges before they sabotage living our best life!

Now here is another twist on this casket idea and what is even more profound than burying your excuses, distractions, etc… What are you doing about your dreams, your ideas and goals? Are you playing it safe and coasting along in the comfort zone of life. Are you allowing others to talk you out of following your dreams? Are you going to allow your dreams to be buried in the casket as well? I am sure you have heard of the statement that the best singers, the best engineers, the best entertainers, the best entrepreneurs, all died with their best work, their best ideas inside of them before they could express it in their lives and  touch the world.

We know that our time on this earth will come to an end and there is nothing we can do about it except to live our best life now and “Rob the Grave of It’s Greatness!” Here is your homework assignment: Write down your excuses, fears, distractions and whatever else that is keeping you from living your best life now and get rid of them. As for as your dreams and goals, write them down and instead of burying them, get busy making things happen and achieving them, so that your days will reflect that you lived life full and died empty!

I love viewing different locations from a higher lookout point just to take in the many different points of interest that many come to enjoy. I call this image “The BIG Picture” and below are just a few “Golden Nuggets” or “Action Tips” I want to share with all of you.

Looking at “The BIG Picture”: 

1. Learn to have a Higher Perspective and Big picture outlook on things. Many times we can get caught up in the details, complexities of our work and activities and only see what’s right there in front of us. It’s good to be able to step away and look at the totality of what your overall mission, intent and activities and how to get from Point A to Point Z without getting bogged down at Point B or C.

2. Vast Opportunities – Just look at that sky and the openness of the city. So many roads going both North and South and East and West; which one should I take? That wide open sky that illustrates no limits to what the mind can conceive and we believe we can do, if it is GOD’s Will for us to do it and for HIS Glory!

3. Thinking and Working – all that you see in “The BIG Picture” came from a thought, an idea backed by a desire to work and Make it Happen. It’s good to be entertain from time to time because as we all know that, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” right? However, it’s even better when in those idle moments, having the thoughts of a worthy cause, ideas or a solution to a problem, backed by an intense desire to see it manifest itself to help our neighbor, community or the world get better, is truly the stuff of we are created for.

4. He’s Watching – Isn’t it good to know that no matter how big and spread out things are on this picture, no matter if we are hiding somewhere too shameful to come out and be seen or if we are standing on the rooftops screaming our ideas and passions to all standing below our voices, GOD Can See both You and I, no matter where we are.

It’s humbling to believe, know and trust that He thinks and cares enough about us all day to watch and know our every move and give us direction and protection throughout the day! With that being said, I am Truly Grateful for “The BIG Picture”!

Starting Inside is the Key?

By believing it is an inside job, successful and joyous people understand that one of the main reasons they are this way is because of the work they have invested in themselves first before allowing the outside forces to come in. The statement below explains it to us in a very insightful way:

It’s Your Time to Break Out! If an egg is broken by outside force, life ends. If broken by an inside force, life begins. Great things always begin from the inside. You have life… Start Living! Not sure where I heard this statement however it is truly packed with meaning that allows you to dig deep and pour out life.

In order to give you have to have something in you first. Another quote I like to use i, “to work harder on yourself than you do on your job.” So many of us experience, frustration, overwhelm, burnout and disappointment for the simple reason that our cups are sitting on empty.

Get filled up with positive and inspiring ideas, stories and experiences to catapult you on a higher plane to be able to offer value and service to others. There is so much negative all around us on a daily basis and we need to start speaking life to all aspects of our being. That’s enough for now, since you are reading this that means you are alive and like the phrase above states; start Living. To add to that, start living more abundantly!

Should I Take the Shortcut and Worry about the Outcome Later?

I wanted to write this post to you that may be experiencing a situation where someone may want you to take shortcuts and get fast results in your personal or business life however you know that there is something quite not right with their methods. You may be currently doing all of the right things however the results or achievements that you are looking for are may not be coming the way you want them to. You may be at the crossroads between maintaining integrity and character versus getting fast results doing the wrong thing.

No matter what business you are in you will always have someone or some group that will want you to do something that may not be legal or moral to be a part of. I want to share an inspirational  story that I recently heard and I believe if you take it to heart, you or someone you know will be encourage to continue on the right path no matter how long it will take you to get there.

This is a story of a king that had reigned for a long period of time and now is getting ready to pass the mantle and anoint the new king. He didn’t have anyone heirs or someone in particular to give it to so he came up with a plan for this process to happen. He asked all of the interested candidates to step up and go for it. He talked with the candidates and instructed them of his plan for anointing the next king. He would give them all plant seeds for them to plant and after one year he wanted them all to come in and show what happened with the seeds they planted.

One year went by and now it is time for all of the candidates display. The candidates all coming in with their nice plants and their uniquely designed floral arrangements to the crowds delight.

Now there was one gentleman who was quite disturbed because no matter how much he tried to water his plant and till the soil, his plant would not grow. Leading up to the end of the year, he became frustrated and depressed however he kept trying to grow his plant to no avail.

When the time came for the candidates to show their display the King would ask them about all that took place with their seeds, planting and their plants. The displays and stories of the plants were fascinating to say the least and when the time came for the one guy with no plant to step forward, he almost didn’t make it to the stage just out of fear and embarrassment.

The king looked at him and saw the he had no plant to show and talk about and asked him what happened. The gentleman mustered enough strength to tell the king that as soon as he received the seeds a year ago, he went out in excitement and planted and watered the seeds to grow his plant. After days and months, no matter how hard he tried, nothing happened.

He tried and tried to no avail and then he thought, how can I show up and see all of the others with their beautiful flowers to display and here I am with nothing to show for my efforts. The candidates standing next to him and the people in attendance began to mock, laugh and hurled insults at him until the keepers of the gate quieted the crowd. No matter what the others said or how much they laughed and mocked him, he knew he needed to be true to himself and the king and deal with the aftermath from the king.

At the end of the night, the king came up to make the big announcement for his successor. All of the candidates were anxious and excited to hopefully hear their name called to be the next King. The King gave a brief talk and made an announcement that would shock and amaze all in attendance. The man with no plant to display would be the next King. The candidates became angry and the crowd began to whisper, complain and ask questions as to why the king made this particular choice when the man clearly didn’t have any positive results to show after one year.

The king knew his choice would be questioned and he began to quiet the crowd so that he could explain his choice and decision. The king stated that by looking at all of the candidates, there was no way he could pick them from outside appearances. He needed to come up with an exercise of integrity to see which candidate looked the best from the inside.

When he passed out seeds to all of the candidates a year ago, the seeds he gave to everyone was boiled seeds and thus these seeds would not be able to produce any plant at all. The king calmly stated that out of all of the candidates, this man was the only one to show honesty and integrity even though he didn’t have a plant to display. He knew that in order to anoint the right king, that candidate would have to display these traits in order to lead the people no matter what bad news he may have to give.

Now, what about you? Are you living and working with integrity in business? Yes, it would be great and recommended for you to have super results and being the valuable leader that will take a business to higher levels. Think about this for a moment; if you were presented an opportunity for advancement from your manager or business coach and no matter if you have stellar results or minimal results, would you be honest and allow your integrity to trump the allure of lying and taking the shortcut to get what you want?

No matter what the crowd say, being truthful to yourself first and others that are in a position to assist you should take precedence. This is what leaders do! It can feel so all alone to be in front and whether we have good or bad news, maintaining integrity and having courage to step up and deliver is a must when leading others.

First of all, I want to give a big shout out and congratulations to all of you who are making things happen in a big way! No matter what industry you are in, if you are seeing some financial success, especially in this “down” economy that we live in, I believe you owe it to yourself to enjoy it.

Living in the social media wave, it’s not that hard to find someone that is experiencing financial success; just look around. Attend an event, look on facebook and other social media platforms and you may noticed big cardboard printouts of huge check amounts and stacks of money on videos, etc… and you have to admit, this really should get the blood flowing for all of us to do well in our business. I really enjoy reading and sharing many of my colleagues accomplishments and victories and I pray that they will continue doing big things with their success not only for themselves for others also.

I remember watching a biography story of the Bee Gees, you know the group that sing Staying Alive, Saturday Night Fever, More than a Woman, etc… and they was sharing their story of how they got started, the rise, the success and the losses and they mention this one phrase that sticks with me to this day. The phrase is known as “First Fame“.

First fame is a phrase that defines a period that comes after a time of grinding and working through struggle and hardship, then experiencing a fast level of huge success before you are actually ready for it and all of the “trappings” that comes with it. The Gibbs brothers were referring to their younger brother, Andy Gibbs, aka “The Golden Child”, who passed away at a young age after experiencing huge successes early on. You hear story after story of musicians, actors, athletes, business people and others that hit it big and then experience a tragic fall from grace.

I can’t help but think back to a time, over 20 years ago, when I was playing Pro football. When you are doing something that you love doing and getting paid good for it, that’s an UNBELIEVABLE Feeling! I, along with hundreds of young men playing ball, had that feeling of invincibility and living on a high with no money worries and everyone was just glad to be around you. This was my “First Fame” moment and I was living the dream man! Being able to travel to any place in the world, spending money on tons of things that I didn’t need and sometimes didn’t want, just to spend money because I could, was exciting to say the least.

A few years pass, I’m not playing ball anymore due to an ankle injury and now a different reality sets in. Now I’m getting older, the crowd of people are being replaced with the crowd of bills and payments and that invincibility is slipping away. You look around and you realize that you are starting over and you need to get a job or do something to make ends meet. Wow, it doesn’t take long to fall from the top to the bottom and yes the ground hurts and really this is a whole another post that I may write about soon.

However I want to share a tip with you, especially to the “Newly rich”, the “First-Time” success stories that are popping up faster than I can write this post. This tip is call having the Proper Mindset and how this can be the difference in how you help yourself in either case; whether you experience a fall or not. No matter if you are just starting in your business, halfway to success are on top of the food chain, you need to work hard on having and maintaining the proper mindset in regards to life and others around you.

When you hear leaders talking about reading books, being around positive people and having dreams and goals, don’t mistake this talk for idle chatter. It is vitally important for you to prepare yourself with listening to positive audios, reading books and surrounding yourself with the right kind of people to facilitate your personal development and growth. Because when the money and fame start pouring in along with the “trappings of success”, you want to be prepared and know how to handle it.

Will you make crazy purchases just because, probably. Will you want to get that dream car or dream house, yes and you should if that’s your dream right! However with the proper mindset, you will know how to buy and spend and still have financial options without destroying yourself doing it. I have to say that this becoming financially successful and the term “First Fame” is real and happening everyday, so let’s be sure we are developing our mindset and character to be able to handle and deal with success, Successfully!!
