On last evening, at the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame celebration, I was both humbled and honored to meet the living legend, Dr. C. T. Vivian, who was a close friend and lieutenant of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement.

In November 2013, he was awarded this Nation’s highest civilian honor – The Presidential Medal of Freedom by the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. At 93 years young, Mr. Vivian is still active in the fight for justice and is an open table for discussion on life and giving your best.

I just came in from enjoying a great time at a family reunion and we made sure to take a few tours throughout the city of Atlanta, Ga., to catch in some great and historic landmarks that the city has to offer. My family and I invested time at the Martin Luther King Center and as we toured this historic and meaningful site regarding Martin Luther King Jr. life before and during the Civil Rights Movement.

We came across a MLK photo that resonated with both my girls and myself, so we decided to line up and mimic the image of Martin Luther King, Jr. (in the background) and make a special family moment out of it. We all shared a laugh with this moment and made the most out of this and other sites we visited in the center.  We got an up close and more realistic view of just how much this man and other people involved in the movement did for mankind!
